From the Land to the Guest: A New Chapter in Sustainable Tourism in Izola

When we speak of meaningful travel, we often imagine breathtaking views, rich history, and unforgettable experiences. But what happens when you blend all of that with the people who actually shape the destination?

Yesterday, a new chapter began in Izola with the soft launch of Loretto Delights Marketplace—a collaborative initiative between Atlas Express, TIC Izola, and Local Community Jagodje, designed to bring something different to the table for cruise guests. Literally.

Set on the scenic Belvedere above Izola, this new experience invites guests not just to taste, but to connect. With the land, with the people, and with the spirit of Istria.

Creating New Experiences with Intention

At Atlas Express, we’ve long believed that tourism is most powerful when it gives back. That’s why, with every new product we develop, we ask one important question: How can we include the local community in this story?

The Loretto Delights Marketplace was born out of this commitment. It’s not just a place to browse—it’s a space to discover. Guests arriving by cruise are welcomed into a vibrant corner of the region where certified organic farmers, artisans, and food producers showcase the very best of what they grow and create.

You’ll find olive oils from Olea Distra, herbal teas and dried immortelle, handmade cosmetics, jams, and even lavender perfumes. But what makes it truly special isn’t just the quality. It’s the people behind each product. The stories. The love. The sustainable values.

Supporting Local, Preserving Identity

The products at the marketplace are not random selections. Each was chosen with care, prioritizing local farms and businesses that share our values. Many of them operate under certified organic practices and are deeply rooted in ecological responsibility.

By including producers like Kmetija Barbo, we ensure that guests experience not just a taste of Slovenia, but its soul. Every purchase at the market is a way of contributing to the circular economy, supporting small-scale farmers, and preserving traditions that are often overshadowed in the fast pace of modern tourism.

More Than a Marketplace

This initiative is about more than delicious spreads and fragrant oils. It’s a conversation. A chance for guests to understand where their food comes from, who made it, and how it fits into the rhythm of life in this corner of Slovenia.

It’s about building bridges. Between traveler and host. Between global and local. Between business and community.

And as cruise guests continue to arrive in Izola, we look forward to welcoming them with open arms, open hearts—and a few jars of something truly special.

Because at the end of the day, the best souvenirs aren’t made in factories. They’re made in moments of connection.
